Senator Marc Pacheco is hosting a special hearing on energy issues in the
Massachusetts State House on Wednesday, May 28th at 1pm. The legislature,
key legislative committees, and the public are invited to attend.

When: 1pm on Wednesday, May 28

Where: Room A1, Massachusetts State House, Boston

Who: presenters will be experts in fields of energy supply, climate change,
the environment, representatives from several state agencies, and
representatives of non-profit organizations including myself from ASPO-USA.
State legislators and staff, legislative committees, and the
public are invited to attend.

Topics to be covered:

 - Impact of escalating energy prices - oil, gasoline, natural gas, electric
- on Massachusetts consumers and state agencies

 - Role of state government and state agencies in addressing energy costs
and shortages

 - Global energy outlook and what it means for the State and its residents

 - Urgent need to look ahead, begin long-term plan for Massachusetts' energy
future

Since our presentations to the legislature and the public on March 31, two
state representatives and Senator Marc Pacheco have agreed to organize a
group in the Massachusetts legislature. The group will focuse on energy
issues, their impacts on Massachusetts and its residents, and develop
strategies and long-term plans to deal with rising costs and eventual
shortages.

This is great progress, but the window of opportunity is closing, and we
will continue to ask for your help keeping things moving at the state level,
and get your state Rep and Senator engaged. Please contact them and ask
them to attend tomorrow's meeting.

Please email me if you have any questions. We hope to see you at the State
House on Wednesday!

Best wishes,

Dick Lawrence - ASPO-USA (dlawrence [at] ASPO-USA [dot] com )
Nancy Lee Wood - Bristol Community College
