Secure Green Future Training - June 13

This November, the Secure Green Future ballot question will ask our
legislators to take decisive action to address the threat of climate change
and to build the economy we need for the postcarbon era.

Anyone who is interested in helping collect signatures to put the Secure
Green Future question on the ballot in their community is invited to attend
a training session on Friday, June 13. The meeting is being organized by
MCHC in collaboration with the Committee for a Secure Green Future and the
Green-Rainbow Party's Advisory Ballot Working Group.

Location: 17 Trotting Horse Drive, Lexington, MA

6:30pm Potluck – Please bring something (preferably healthy/sustainable) to
share, along with your own reusable plates/cups/utensils/napkins. We hope to
make this a zero-trash event.

7:30 - 9:30 Training will begin promptly at 7:30

We will have petition forms on hand and supporting materials so you can hit
the ground running.

In advance of this training, we encourage you to talk with friends,
neighbors, and cohorts who you think would be interested in helping with
signature gathering or other pieces of this effort. Please bring them with
you to the training pot luck!

We will help local groups self organize for this effort, creating District
Action Groups that will coordinate signature gathering, track progress in
their district, seek endorsements, etc. We highly encourage people to find
at least 2 other volunteers to share the load and make things fun. We will
help team you up with others who have stepped forward, perhaps in a
neighboring district.

A ballot question committee is in formation, and we will soon have an
organizational endorsement appeal that can be emailed out or handed out in
person to recruit help for your team.

Shall the representative from this district be instructed to vote in favor
of legislation that:
1) reduces greenhouse gas emissions in Massachusetts by 80% by 2020, and
2) phases out tax incentives for energy-intensive projects while expanding
job creation programs for locally-owned businesses and cooperatives involved
in renewable energy, conservation, and sustainable agriculture.
