from the State Committee dept.
Summary :
Context: State Committee Representatives are an important part of the leadership of the GRP. To be part of the leadership means that we must take on positions of responsibility. According to our by-laws (8.4), “It is the responsibility of the State Committee to:

-Actively participate in the business of the State Committee, including attendance at meetings;
-Maintain regular communication and consultation with Green-Rainbow Locals in their area, and keep those locals informed of state party affairs;
-Expand the number and membership of Green-Rainbow Locals in her state senatorial district or region;
-Refrain from publicly criticizing party nominees”

Text :
1. An important way for delegates to represent other GRP members is to belong to a local chapter. Every State Comm. delegate must belong to at least one local chapter. (The only exceptions are the State officers of the GRP.) Chapters cannot be any larger than a county or a congressional district.

2. Every State Comm. Representative must be a member of some other aspect of the State GRP (including Adcom, Working Committees, member of a Caucus, involved with the National Party).

3. Any State Comm. Delegate who does not fit these two criteria by the Fall, 2008 Meeting will become an Alternate Member of the State Comm. until s/he complies with the above requirements. The only exceptions are members who have just joined the State Comm., who will be expected to comply with the above requirements by the time of the next State Comm. Meeting.

4. The State Comm. can vote to make exceptions to this policy. (For example, running for public office as a member of the GRP).
