3-day Party-Wide Regional Fundraising
Wednesday January 17, @10:24PM, by Ron Francis, Merelice
Subject : 3-day Partywide fundraising effort
from the Fundraising ??? dept.
Summary :
This kind of group fundraising activity has been done by members of the Rainbow Caucus in Roxbury and has met with some success. People who have organized these types of events are encouraged to pool thoughts in order to mazimize success.
Rational:
We need to regularize our fundraising effort and also improve our regular contact with members. Our supporters will feel like we have a real party if they hear from a live person more often who has a passion for the party with a long-term strategic plan, that is conveyed by a human voice.
This kind of activity was organized by the Expcom (not for fundraising but to find out what people thought about statewide activities in early 2006...). The activity reconnected GRP leaders with less active members in the grassroots.
Text :
Proposal asks Fundraising Committee to give highest priority planning of a 3 day Party-wide regionalized joint fundraising phonecalling effort. In the event that the Fundraising Committee is not able to organize a plan by Feb 15th (not meeting or not enough people resources to plan it) the Adcom is instructed to organize this fundraising activity to occur no later than May 15th.
"3-day Party-wide regional fundraising" is to mean that the fundraising is to occur on 3 consecutive nights in a given week (Funraising Week) and is to include group fundraising activities in homes or offices that are placed around the state to facilitate easy participation. The fundraising days are to be announced two months in advance so that all members of the party have a good chance to participate.
Training of people who need it is to be made available (if this is not done at the january Statecom meeting). Outreach activities can also be planned as part of the phonecall script. Party members will be encouraged to participate 2 out of the 3 days.
The fundraising effort must include the preparation of followup materials that make a phone bank effective.
The phonecalling effort should begin in each region with members who have not been notified of their need to renew, given that renewal reminders ceased when Brian stopped last summer. That way, callers will be less likely to get discouraged by lack of results.
Cost Estimate: 300 followup mailing pieces = 150 dollars (postage)
