Proposals for 2004 Fall State Committee Meeting

Proposals for the State Committee meeting can be submitted, revised, and commented on here. The State Committee meeting is on DAYNAME MONTH DATE, YEAR (TBD). State Committee proceedures say that the last day to submit anything here is MEETING DAY MINUS 2 WEEKS.

Any two members of the State and Administrative Committees, or any Green-Rainbow Local, may submit a proposal for the State Committee to consider.

If you have proposals that are ready to post, do not hesitate as it gives people more of a chance to read it and comment on it ahead of time and possibly improve it.

If you have the proposal already in a word processor document, please attach the document at the bottom of your post to facilitate the process of making the proposal package for the meeting.

Please read them completely so you are prepared for clarifying questions, discussion, and decisionmaking. If you have comments ahead of time, you can post a follow up here and you can contact the sponsors of the proposal.

I am sick to death of going into markets and not feeling safe about anything I buy. Mendocino County in California successfully passed a ban on genetically engineered food. It would be nice if we had the same thing here.

Statement and Action on the Presidential Election

Several state Green Parties have recently issued statements opposing the "safe states" presidential campaign strategy and calling on the Cobb/LaMarche campaign to run vigorously in all states. This proposal will have the Green-Rainbow Party issue a similar statement (which will actually be an update of our presidential campaign statement from the GRP state convention), will have this statement prominently and widely distributed, and will call for an action step of participating in a rally opposing both Kerry and Bush and their common agenda. The intent of this statement and action is to make it clear that the Green-Rainbow Party and the Green Party are the real alternative to the corporatist militarist elitist Republican and Democratic parties. Making this clear will attract more people to the Green-Rainbow Party and GPUS and will allow us to function as a party that will produce real change in this country.
