Subject : Endorsement for Local Event
Summary :
This proposal seeks the formal endorsement of the GRP for a Symposium to be held in Fitchburg on Sept. 28, 2003. Topic: Green Presidential Strategy for 2004, Keynote Speaker: David Cobb.
Text :
Sponsored by Tony Lorenzen, Rich Zitola, and Samantha Zitola (all of Worcester County)

We submit the following proposal for Rudy Perkins, a GRP member in Worcester County and the male GRP rep to the USGP. Rudy had this proposal on the floor of the State Convention in June and it was bumped to the September State Committee meeting when the Convention ended.

PROPOSAL: The Green-Rainbow Party endorses the
‘Green Strategy 2004’ symposium on Green presidential
strategy options being held on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003,
1-6 pm, at the Free Space Gallery, 649 Main Street,
Fitchburg, MA. The Green-Rainbow Party will publicize
the event prominently on its website, in its email
update, and by other available means to encourage the
widest possible participation by GRP members.”

BACKGROUND:

I had a proposal on the floor of the June
Green-Rainbow Party Convention concerning a late
summer or fall presidential election strategy
symposium. The Convention ran out of time and my
proposal was bumped to the agenda of the 9/13/03 State
Committee meeting.

To make a target fall date for the symposium, I and
others interested in this idea could not wait until
9/13 for a G-RP decision, and have pressed ahead with
organizing a slightly more focused strategy symposium,
“Green Strategy 2004,” to be held on 9/28, inviting
northeast/New England Greens, Green-Rainbows and Green
sympathizers to this initial symposium. Green
presidential candidate David Cobb will be the keynote
speaker.

I would therefore like to make a friendly amendment to
my original proposal before you consider it at the
9/13 State Com meeting, to read instead as proposed
above.

The announcement for this symposium follows, as
additional background to this proposal. The text of
my original June Convention proposal is appended at
the end, FYI.

My understanding is that State Committee members Rich
Zitola, Samantha Zitola and David Rolde are willing to
sponsor this proposal, should it need sponsorship to
be on the 9/13 State Com agenda.

Thank you for considering this,
Rudy Perkins
