He received 1,476 of 1,949 votes cast. "I really want to thank the people of District 7 who came out to vote and my team who put together a very successful get-out-the-vote effort. Today's vote has laid the foundation for victory in the November 6th final election," said Chuck Turner. "Councillor Turner reminded us at his fundraising victory party that this win is just a first step toward the campaign that we all must engage in changing the attitude about city violence from a punitive to an educational and employment approach that provides meaningful opportunities for all our youth," said Merelice, Co-Chair of the Green-Rainbow Party.
