She received 4,208 votes, only 320 votes behind the 5th place finisher. Her placing ensures that she will appear on the November 6th general election ballot since only the top twelve advance to the November ballot. Six at-large city council candidates will be elected at that time. Seventeen other candidates vied in the preliminary election. "The voters recognized that I have the skills necessary to bring Worcester together, protect our local economy, unite our neighborhoods and bring our fair share of revenue back from the state and national government," said Grace Ross. Worcester voter Barbara C. Kohin remarked, "Grace Ross is very well-informed about a wide range of issues of importance to Worcester. She speaks directly and concisely, without lots of empty rhetoric." "We are proud of Grace's achievement and hard work," said Eli Beckerman, Green-Rainbow Party Communications Director. "She has worked tirelessly to win this election and to build a strong foundation toward the November 6 election and beyond." Grace is joined by other Green-Rainbow members running for local office including incumbent Boston City Councilor Chuck Turner, incumbent Cambridge School Committee member Luc Schuster, and Rick Purcell, candidate for Holyoke City Council. |
