Re: 9th Congressional District

The 9th CD (Southie, Needham, Dedham, and points way south) is not exactly a hotbed of progressive political opportunity...but I wondered if this race was on the radar screen for anybody?
Our candidate development plan calls for us to focus on state (generally state representative and state senate) and local offices.
To get on the ballot for a US Congress seat in MA requires 2000 signatures. State rep requires 150. For the effort that we put into getting someone on the ballot for US Congress, we could put 13 state rep. candidates on. 13 state rep. campaigns would give us better coverage, more grassroots campaigns, and if a few campaigns don't get enough signatures, then we are only out a few campaigns. With US congress it is all or nothing.
That said, if a candidate comes forward who is intent on running for US Congress, then we would assist them. However, our focus is on the state rep/senate and local campaigns.
