Setting up domain for serving

Subject : abolishpoverty.org and in general
from the Tech dept.
Summary :
Need to set up abolishpoverty.org domain name and we need to set up general procedure for setting one up.
Text :
we are a sponsor of the Abolish Poverty March this spring 2004. We are hosting the web site for the march: abolishpoverty.org.
So we need to set this up and am looking for a volunteer to do it.
And we should have a doc somewhere as to what are the steps to set one up correctly. I put forth the following as a preliminary list which will no doubt be incomplete:
1) make sure domain is registered with candidate/group/etc.
2) get a name, phone, and email address for the website person for the candidate/org/etc.
3) Figure out how DNS is going to work from the following list:
A) We serve up domain and two toher authoritative servers (AS) will do zone transfers from our server (suggest www.zoneedit.com as free DNS service that can do zone transfers)
B) We serve up domain name and are primary nameserver and registrar does secondary (gandi.net does this)
C) We do not serve domain and AS does it themselves (if registrar gives this for free or however)
4) If we serve up domain, set it up in /etc/namedb/ config file and primary dir.
5) Find out if the web builder if they want a "regular" site or a "zope" site (probably most wil take regular)
6) If regular site, create a shell account for the web builder and where the web site will live under the account "public_html". If Zope site, skip.
7) Edit the httpd.conf file to create virtual domain.
A) If regular site, point to folder on disk.
B) If Zope, point to Zope virtual object. Then create Zope user in manage space. Login as user and then create virtual domain folder... or at least i think that is how it works.
8) Edit "virtusertable" in postfix directory to add the new virtual domain so that they can get email. Add a few address there: webmaster and "information" and have them go to the web builder.
SO i know i must have forgotten something... Please help out.
PLUS now the good stuff. We need to do this for abolishpoverty.org.
It is registered at gandi.net so it can do secondary DNS which means we need to serve. Then we need a shell account "abolpov" and a "regular" web site set up in httpd.conf for abolishpoverty.org with alias for www.abolishpoverty.org. And we need a few addresses like information@ and webmaster@ set up in virtusertable for postfix.
So is there any takers that would like to set this up? I know i am about to switch DNS over so set it up in the new IP space as i will be doing new DNS later tonight.
Dan
